Michael and Theresa Carr began their professional careers in complementary therapy in 2002 after working almost 25 years in the corporate world of airline seating manufacturing, telecommunications marketing, and customer service industries. The prospect of layoffs gave us a window of opportunity to review our life path and welcome a change in direction. As one door closed, another one opened. We followed our hearts desire to help others and established our own complementary therapy practice. Michael completed training in medical massage therapy, while Theresa received certification in reflexology.

We converted over 500 square feet of our home in Torrington CT into a beautiful and serene studio for our healing arts practice. We take great care to provide a nurturing, peaceful, healing environment where clients feel comfortable, relaxed and safe. Body, mind and spirit are all compassionately nurtured.

We specialize in care for cancer patients and people with chronic conditions.

Our therapies combine Eastern and Western styles. Our modalities are complementary to traditional allopathic medicine and are not a substitute for conventional medical treatment. We do not diagnose illness, prescribe medical treatment or pharmaceuticals, nor do we perform any type of spinal manipulation.

Inspired Touch, LLC received certification from the State of CT Supplier Diversity Program as a Woman Owned Business Enterprise (WBE). This certification enables us to expand our business through opportunities with local, state, and federal procurement offices.

COMMUNITY:

In 2003, Michael and Theresa were instrumental in establishing a patient comfort program called Tender Loving Care “TLC” at The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, CT. We teach and mentor volunteers who give patients gentle hand and foot rubs during the patient’s hospital stay. The volunteers undergo a six hour training and education program on communication, listening skills, hands on training and mentoring. In the summer of 2005, we opened the Integrative Therapies Program at The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. The patients can request massage or reflexology therapy at their bedside. Appointments are scheduled by calling 860-489-2613.

Michael and Theresa are members of the Northwest Connecticut Chamber of Commerce and serve as chairs of the Health Council. They are active members of the Torrington Civitan Club, where Theresa serves as Secretary.
